Telecheck declined my checks three different stores, made three call with no results.
I wrote a check for $64.59 at SurValue grocery store, on 12/02/2011. My check was declined, there was more than enough in checking account to cover check, called when I got home and found they had flagged our account as a security risk. I went to another store, food Outlet, six days later to buy grocery, which each of these stores is Supervised by my son, purchased $168.72 and gave them a check, and it was declined. If my son had not been in the store I would have had to leave and cash a check and come back to get my groceries. I went Christmas and stopped at Kmart, had $28.06 and the check was declined. I paid out of my pocket the amount, and called when I got home and they would not even listen to my complaint, just hung up on me. I sent a complaint to the Ala. Attorney Generals office, but that will take for ever and now what do I do about buying the rest of my Christmas. There has to be someone that can help us. This is a company trying to control, when, how much and how often we can spend out money. We need to get a Class Action Suit against this company. My husband and I live in Dothan, Alabama.

Telecheck declined my check & won't give me guidelines they used!
Wrote a check at Wal-Mart for $63. Telecheck declined my check. I went out to the parking lot & called customer service. I was told that my check did not meet their guidelines for being a good check. I asked what their guidelines where, as I had written several checks to wal-mart over the past week (one for >300), and all checks had cleared & been taken without problem. They did verify with my bank that my $63 check was good & told me that I could go back into Wal-mart & re-present it - yeah right. Spoke with the supervisor, because I want to know the guidelines they used in declining my check. She cannot give me those guidelines, she cannot give me someone who can give me the guidelines, she cannot give me the # to the corporate office (all she has is a transfer button & isn't provided with the #). Customer service was happy to transfer me to the corporate office, but surprise it was closed. I just want to know the guidelines! I don't feel that is an unreasonable request. I do not have bad checks out & I don't understand taking my $300 check & refusing my $63 check. Why can't I know the guidelines?

Telecheck denied my check and their reason is bogus!!
Yesterday my check was denied at Sephora within J.C.Penney. Today it was denied at Best Buy. After being embarrassed two days in a row I visited with the branch manager at my bank (a BIG national one) only to discover that my account is in excellent standing. The manager then contacted Telecheck and handed the phone over to me. After speaking to a supervisor I learned that the reason they denied my checks was that the last time I wrote a check to a business that uses Telecheck was 14 checks ago. Therefore they claim that they were looking at this as a possible case of fraud. I tried to tell them that those 14 checks were written to pay bills and to businesses that do not use their service. Why should I be penalized for businesses not using their service. The kicker was that I was told I CAN NOT WRITE ANY CHECKS FOR 7 DAYS. What a nightmare especially at this time of year. I will make a conscious effort to use business that do not subscribe to this POWER HUNGRY service.

Check denial
This weekend I was trying to purchase items that I needed for my business and some things for pleasure. I had gotten my income taxes and lost my debit card. On three occasions in less than a week you company denied me access to my money that I worked very hard for. The range was from $24 to $2200. I am very unhappy. I bought gas for $25 and could not access any of my funds to pay. This is very embarrassing and demeaning to those of us that work hard and have to in turn count out pennies because your automated system makes decisions about MY money. I did call and talk to a representative to verify information only to find out that there is an unwillingness to help even though we are given phone numbers to call. Your company is very unprofessional. Once you are verified by you bank you can get things resolved over the phone at that time. Your company should do this so that people can have access to their money. I work from home and this ordeal has cost me 2 days of work.

TELECHECK WILL RUIN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'M 66 YRS OLD- I have NEVER written a bad check. 12/2/12 I wrote a ck at wall mart and it was declined, I immediately called from the store took over 15 min. to even get through redoing all the #'s they wanted-when I finally talked to a human they told me I had written a bad ck 12/23/11-which I was totally unaware of**I went home and did my own research and yes I'd made an error. Well I waited for their time period and watched my account when the ck cleared I called telecheck and asked if I was cleared to write checks again "YES" no holds or allerts on my account, even checked through using my SS# all is fine I wrote a check last night at Meijer, ck was refused. I called immediately and again was on the phone 20 min. couldn't give me a reason what was wrong. So again I called 1/13/12, I was told I was a high risk because of writing 1 bad check in my life. The lady then said it was their decision the ck balance had to be verified before it could be accepted. Again I"m told all is fine I could go back to the store and even present the same ck for processing " RIGHT " what about my groceries I had to leave at the store. What really got me was her telling me they had NO record of me calling and talking to anyone last night****I guess their word is gospel

Denied my check
Telecheck SUCKS! I have been writing checks for 32 years never once a hot check. In the past 5 days Telecheck has denied 2 of my checks because they fell outside their guide lines of my normal check writing. Not because I didn't have the money to cover themone was for $6.50 and the other $58.84. Because I had wrote a number of checks. It's Christmas time!!! Let's get real! What gives them the right to PROFILE me and my check writing? Or to decide where I can or can't give a check at? I'm MAD as ***!!!!!

Telecheck SUCKS, declined check for "no apparent reason"
Hubby went to pick up meds at drug store. Wrote check, check declined. At home I called the number and gave the denial record number. Telecheck said it was due to "risk factors", not that we have an active file, or funds in bank account...apparently my husband has not written "enough" checks there and so does not have a "record" to go on. CAN THIS BE ANY STUPIDER??????? We get all our meds at this drug store, Telecheck said it did not tell the merchant to decline the check.....GRRRRRRRRRRR...I have to use this drug store pursuant to my health insurance......what is he supposed to do...go in and keep getting declined until he has a "record"????? This is a *** company.

Telecheck denies check for RIDICULOUS reason!
I never heard of Telecheck until today. I don't usually write checks, from the checkbook I was using, in stores. Today I wrote 2. The first one, presented at Wal-Mart in Manville, was accepted. The second, presented at K-Mart in Somerset was denied. I didn't even know a check could be denied. My purchase totalled approx. $240.00, I had $7000.00 in the account, I had all the proper identification, but it was no good. I was furious. I called Telecheck, while still standing at the checkout, in order to rectify the problem. Afer much hassle and much waiting I finally reached a real person. She explained that my check had been denied because my check numbers were out of sequence. That's right. Somehow I had accidentally skipped a check, and went back to it today. My check was denied because I had written out check # 1404 AFTER I had written check # 1407, and that put the transaction at high risk for fraud. I explained that there was no fraud, it was my account, in my name, with plenty of money in it, and that I had the proper photo ID, so how could there be a fraud? Unbelievable. I asked that the next check that I write be approved, because I had a basket full of merchandise that I needed to pay for, and she couldn't guarantee that the 2nd one would be accepted – and it wasn't! Unfortunately it is a holiday weekend so I have to be patient, but I can't wait to get to my bank on Tuesday and see what they have to say about this. I will be requesting a debit card for this account to use in the future, and I will be advising retailers from now on that when they say "Yes, we accept checks", that they should also add "IF Telecheck decides to approve it, but you won't know whether they will or won't until after you've done all your shopping." From what I've read online in just the past ½ hour, I realize that this is becoming a common problem with Telecheck. There are tons of complaints about them. It's just another case of yet another company/agency playing God with people's lives and people's reputations. Unfortunately, I'm sure things will only get worse.

Declined my check 3 times
I went to Foodtown and wrote a check. It was declined. I called the number and was told that the account was too new. I went in again about a month later and presented a check, same problem. Telecheck told me that the check fell outside of their guidelines(whatever they are). The check was for $29. I went again today and wrote a check for $74 it was declined because it falls outside of the "risk guidelines". I just spoke with someone from the Civil Rights Commission and I will have a complaint filed today. If anyone else is having a problem, contact your office in your area and file a complaint. This nonsense needs to stop!

Customer No-Service
Best Buy has lost $4,500 in sales due to Telecheck's script reading customer service representatives and supervisors that not willing or do not have the authority to help. I was in the market for 3 LED HD TV's and was trying to purchase them from Best Buy. When I tried to write a check for the T.V.'s, my check was declined because the amount of money "fell outside of the risk guidelines" for Telecheck. No one including the supervisor from Telecheck was willing to help. I tried to get Telecheck to call my bank and verify I had funds in the account and they refused, the only advice they could give me was to try to write the check again in 7 days...Really! In today's economy, someone wants to spend money, has the money to spend, and these folks will decline their check and do nothing to help resovle their concerns. Best Buy said I could use another form of payment but now it was the principle, I had the money was not wiliing to change my form of payment, I have options and purchased by T.V.'s from some place else. Telecheck has put people in place who deal directly with the public that are not empowered to make decisions and can only read off of a script. They make you feel as though you trying to write a bad check and they leave you standing at the counter with no options. This is by far, the worse customer service I have ever received.

TeleCheck denied check
I have had a checking account for over twenty years and have never written a cold check and I have never until the last two weeks ever had a problem writing a check anywhere! Now thanks to telecheck I have had four checks denied because of them. I called my bank worried that I had been a victim of identity theft and was told everything was okay from the bank and there was no problem on their end.I again attempted to go Christmas shopping and a check was denied again thanks to telecheck. I have called telecheck twice this week with no success. They have no access to my account balance but have given advice to the merchant not to accept my check, but then go on to say that telecheck did not decide to decline my check. I am furious! Who are they protecting? I work, I pay my bills, I have a great credit, I have never cheated anyone out of a dime, and now this company is advising merchants not to take my checks because they have flagged something? Does this company have a clue who they protecting or what they are doing? Also, do I want do business with the companies that hire these idiots?

TeleCheck is a bad joke.
TeleCheck tells me that my check was declined and I was embarrassed in front of a merchant simply because they don't have enough information about me. As I seldom write checks they could only find one prior record through one of their members and apparently a $2,700 check was too much for them. The bank is a respectable one and the account is at least 8-10 years old, with no dishonored checks at any time. The Tele-Check clerk said that they had no UNfavorable information that caused them to decline my check, they simply did not have sufficient information. That is totally *** and prompts me now to inquire of all merchants, whether or not I intend to pay by check. I will buy nothing from any firm that uses the TeleCheck services for any reason.

Telecheck denies my EXCANGE AT WAL MART
Went into Wal Mart to exchange a purchase and was told that because telecheck red flagged me for writing hot checks I wasnt allowed to exchange my CASH purchase for another CASH purchase ! WTF I went to my bank and was told what I already knew , I have NEVER written a hot check to anyone. So I went back to Wal Mart and was told that they still would not do busness with me . Try to call telecheck and all options on the automated phone system tell you to go to the website to file a claim and that i will need notarized paprwork, but wait, Wal mart and telecheck reuse to give me any info. No numbers , dates or amounts of any "bad checks" so that I can file any paperwork or claim .Still, how does that stop me from doing a cash exchange? SHAME ON WAL MART AND TELECHECK!

TeleCheck denied a withdraw from my checking account
Unable to walk well. First time on line shopping and decided to accept the option at Amazon to have the purchases paid directly from my checking account. The first purchases for two days went well, then customer service at Amazon emailed an apology informing of a denial on my account. I right away called my credit union and confirmed the amount in my account, there is enough money to cover all purchases plus more. Amazon gave details to get in touch with TeleCheck. I couldn't get through to talk to anyone. The questions being asked by a "robot" wanted a check number - how can I give a check number on a direct withdraw?? The purchase was resolve by using my credit card. But the purpose to not have a c.c. bill was foiled. So now, do I have to ask all merchants if they use TeleCheck? Living in a remote area there are not too many choices of stores. This really stinks!!!!

Telecheck declined checks even after my bank told them there was sufficient funds
I traveled over 1200 miles to where my brother lives to purchase items for him that he needs. I am his conservator/guardian and I need to keep records of all spent from a checking account set up for him. Telecheck declined the check at Wal Mart and then again two days later at another store despite the fact that I spent three hrs on phone with them and even had a three way with my bank's manager and telecheck was told by my bank in that conversation that there was sufficient funds in the account. Telecheck was told in four different conversations that i had traveled a great distance to buy my brother things from this account set up for him. Despite this and the fact they talked to my bank, the refused to cash the checks. My bank did all they could do by telling them the funds were there. I had no other option but to put the purchases on my credit card. This is going to make it very difficult to work through all of this now. Telecheck said I did not have a sufficient check writing record. HOw can I if they deny m checks?? What kind of a company is it that will not listen to your bank? The time I could have spent with my brother was spent in stress talking to telecheck who only reads a canned statement that makes no sense to you. I was unable to make some of the purchases I would have made otherwise. This has been a very stressful, time consuming. degrading unnecessary experience.

i had never wrote a check til this weekend and when i did it was at family dollar for 29.60.telecheck would not let it go and it was a line full of people.the store supervision goes loud you have a bad check cause telecheck dont lie.so i called my bank and put it on speak phone and let him hear my balance he goes thats more then i make in a month i am sorry it is just telecheck.so i talk to my bank and they tell me that so many people are using prepaid cards now because of the problems with telecheck.
I tried to make a purchase at Best Buy and was declined even though I had the money in my account. I ended up buying elsewhere with my husbands debit card (mine won't read because of scratches & I won't pay the $25 for a new card).
The customer in front of me was also denied. Best Buy lost over $100 in good sales as did Dollar Tree. I think if retailers figure out how much in good sales they are losing they might start examining Telecheck more closely. Also calling Telecheck was pretty well useless.
The rep would only tell me future presentations would be evaluated for risk. I have no idea if this will continue or not even though she said my info was updated with them and there were no bad checks on record.
I think anyone with a beef against TeleCheck should contact the Federal Trade Commission and complain, then send an info copy to their Congressman or a Senator. If enough gripes start stacking up someone will follow through.
the solution to buying the rest of your christmas gifts is to go to your bank and pull out some cash. If you have money in their to cover a check than you can certainly pull out that amount in cash.
Or maybe you should look at getting a debit card which would be better than having to worry about if someone will take your check and comes straight out of your bank account as well. Checks are on their way out and you'll be lucky if most places even continue taking them in the following years.
No, I doubt that class action will help much either. Get a credit card or a debit card.
Using checks is very risky in today's banking world, anyway. Telecheck does not answer to anyone, so good luck getting them to improve.
